A visit to Crown Candy...

Crown Candy Kitchen...

It’s been my pleasure to get treats there since I was about 3. My mom grew up in this ‘hood, and was a frequentor as a teen, so I have been fortunate enough to enjoy their delicious ice cream, lunch items, and candy for 45 years. I don’t overdo, ONLY because I am afraid of ruining a good thing. I do treat myself, 6-8 times a year, and encourage everyone to go there, and get the Reuben, then top it off with a Fire Chief Special, yes, those are my favorites. Don’t be afraid of the neighborhood, police officers frequent there, as well.

For those of you that have never been, it’s like stepping back in time, not my time, my mom’s time. Old fashioned booths, small juke boxes on every table (non-working, but I do remember when they did work), ice cream soda glasses...all of these things, along with the outstanding food choices, and the delicious ice cream make the experience at Crown Candy wonderful. When someone mentions going there, it’s like going to a happy place in your head.

Now, go on, give it a try. It’s worth the trip!

And don’t forget to take your camera.

How do you look at things...

It’s all about how you look at things...

I LOVE the color of the shutters in the image. I choose to see the brightness of the shutters, the great stone, the inviting sidewalks. Oh, but wait, it’s overcast (yuk, no sunshine), it’s a really cold 29˚, not very many people are out walking on Main Street today, kinda windy... If I had that attitude I would never see the obvious.

You are in control of how you deal with life’s funny sense of humor. You can react quickly, and probably regret your actions, or you can step back for a second and re-think your position. Knee-jerk reactions usually aren’t the smartest, we all know that to be true, including yours truly.

Staying positive, and doing positive things for yourself helps everyone around you. Just the attitude change creates a little more harmony, you start to see things a little brighter, and then it seems good things begin to happen in your life.

I realize this isn’t on topic of photography, but it’s my Blog, and I can blog about what I want. :-)

Go for a walk in this fresh, brisk air, and take your camera along, you might see something incredible on your journey.

So, I'm new at this blog thing...

I feel very fortunate to live in such a picturesque city. I mean, really, look around, and I mean really look at the great things we have in our city and in the 'burbs.

The architecture around is amazing, and so intricate. I have developed this deep passion for the details in things, and what it takes to make our landmarks and buildings so unique. I've spent days shooting at our Botanical Gardens, and can't express how great it is just to hang out there. Every time I'm there, I discover something I had missed the time before.

Besides the architecture being so amazing, the plants and landscaping is beautiful. The colors are FANTASTIC, it's easy to lose time while your there. I find myself wandering all over the Gardens.

Get out and enjoy yourself, and don't forget your camera!
